Insurance
From a single piece to a Fine Art or antique collection, it is important to have an up-to-date insurance valuation. Given the ever-changing art market and changes in taste and fashion, values can change dramatically. Furthermore, insurance companies may require a detailed description with an accurate replacement value. As Daniel is employed regularly by major insurance companies he is ideally suited to understanding the requirements needed for insurance valuations.
Insurance Bespoke Valuation
This is a detailed insurance valuation of the entire contents with specific attention to high value items, at risk items and fragile items. Each valuation comes with photographs and a detailed description with individual values. With a summary breakdown of different categories and an overall total. Supplied in a bound hard folder and a password protected document that can forwarded to your insurer.
Home Contents Walk Through Appraisal
This is a less comprehensive valuation but offers an overview of your home contents providing assurance that the correct cover value is in place. Provides an overall total with a category breakdown as required by insurance companies, photographs of an item over £30000 and a password protected document for your insurer.
Limited Bespoke Valuation
This is for a single or small collection of items. Each item photographed with description and values. Comes with a bound hard copy.
Probate & Inheritance
Executors, solicitors and next-of-kin are often required to commission an independent probate sale valuation of art, antiques, jewellery and personal effects in order to assess Inheritance Tax (IHT) liability with HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC). Valuations of jewellery, antiques and Inheritance Tax Valuations of Chattels are done in accordance with Section 160 of the Inheritance Tax Act 1984. The work is HMRC compliant and undertaken sensitively and discreetly. Dan can liaise directly with the executors or the solicitors and can arrange the sale of the contents and the final clearance of the property.
Auctions
As an independent valuer, Dan can advise where each item should be sold in order to achieve the best sale outcome. Certain items are best suited to a local auction house, whereas high-value items may need to be consigned to a specialist or London sale room. All aspects of the sale are handled with confidentiality, from delivery to saleroom to negotiating estimates, marketing costs (if needed) and reserves. The cost of this service is taken from the auction house.
Family settlement
During the delicate and sensitive time of divorce or separation individual items known as chattels may be overlooked and any items which are £500 or more should have a valuation. Such luxury items such as Handbags, Jewellery, Watches and rare Whiskies are considered chattels. Having a detailed valuation will assist in the division of matrimonial assets.
